There are five different branches or ashrams of Vaishnavism, each championed by a different teacher. All branches all coexist in friendly camaraderie and preach the message of Krishna, while worshipping him through slightly different rituals. Followers differentiate themselves through outward appearances also, such as the style of donning their scarves, and the shape and colour of markings on their forhead.
