Mathura, Yamuna and the surrounding areas are steeped into religious tradition that goes back for centuries. That Mathura is considered the birthplace of Krishna obviously plays a very strong part in this practice. Millions of Hindus visit this holy land every year for pilgrimage and offer their obesciences to Krishna and the vast cast of participants in his story. In this picture, two women perform rites to honour the Yamuna River.
