The Horniman Circle Gardens is a large park in the Fort district of South Mumbai. The area was initially known as Bombay Greens in the 18th Century. Later, it was renamed to Elphinstone Cirle after the then Governor, Lord Elphinstone. It was finally given its current name after independence in honour of Benjamin Horniman, a pro-freedom editor of the Bombay Chronicle.
