Is there any greater satisfaction than to return to the place where another trip had ended, and go on?
- Ken Kifer

Over time, I have formed a deep connection with places in and near Pune. Ranging from the rustic environs of nearby Khadki Cantonment to the bustling crowds of Laxmi Road to the trendiness of F.C. Road, Pune has a lot to offer. The most memorable places though are far from the crowds. Lions Point, which I visited earlier was one such place. Panchgini, 100 kilometres in the other direction on NH4, has now earned a spot for itself in the same list. When I visited this little hill station 20 years ago, it was a charming little place, known for its many schools and strawberries. Time has taken a toll and this place is beginning to show signs of sprawl - holiday homes, private villas, many-star hotels, amusement parks and restaurants.

But there usually is a spot or two even in such a place which still lies hidden from the typical public. Combined with a well-timed visit at sunrise, one can be assured of several hours of peaceful rumination in the company of Nature.
