Serenity — Archived from April 2008
Since my move away from Mumbai last year, the biggest change in my life has been the drastic slowing down. No longer worried about the hustle-bustle, the commute, the crowds, the unforgiving schedules, basically everything that makes a city life, nowadays I actually have time to savour the world around me. I notice that the trees are in bloom, the skies are blue, clouds are a puffy white, there are all sorts of interesting birds fluttering around our home and I can't help bring a smile upon my face when I ride back home on my bicycle in the evenings.
This month's picture reflects that feeling. Shot during my recent trip to Mathura, I can still recall the lovely sunrise that so enthralled me that wintry morning. The laid back attitude of the people there is shown in all they do - from serving meals to hungry customers at restaurants, to plying their tiny boats leisurely across the Yamuna for pilgrims. And believe me you - this slowing down of the pace is good. There's too much instant gratification in our lives in the cities. It's nice to see a world where patience truly is a virtue, and serenity an ever-present mindset.
