Shields at a Fort — Picture of the month for June 2009
The natural world never ceases to amaze me. And for the past two years, I have feasted upon a veritable banquet of exotic wildlife and plants. Everything, ranging from ripening pines right outside our window to twits flitting amongst them has caught my imagination. And this is just in the city. The countryside, just a few kilometres away, makes for an even more lavish spread. One of the reasons for moving out of the big city was to have time to appreciate these things. And thankfully, so far we have done a pretty good job. I have stopped to take in more sunrises than ever, quenched my thirst at countryside streams and lazed in open grounds. All without a care upon my mind.
It is one life after all. And I would rather live it on my terms than be a rat in a rat race.
