A Better Tomorrow — Picture of the month for June 2008
Ami returned to doing what she always loved last month and I have not seen a brighter smile on her face for a while now. These few months she spent away from work were probably the most depressive days in her life. With me away at work all day, few friends and a family that was too far away, she barely got any stimulus to keep her pepped up and functioning as it was while we were back home in Mumbai. That she kept her spirits up during those days is testimony to her tenacity.
There is a drive she has within her to do the best for her students. I see her off early every morning and cannot but shake my head in amazement that this is the same self-confessed late-riser who barely made it out of bed by nine while she was in college. I am pretty sure she cuts an impressive image when she rolls into the school driveway on her bicycle every morning and inspires quite a few young minds.
Incidentally, the monsoons too have arrived in Pune. This picture, taken a few days before her first day at school, was shot against overcast skies with sliver of golden pouring through the gaps. And her eyes shone with hope.
